Just Magnolia - Vintage

Morning and woohoo, Friday at last! Gee, it sounds like I wish mylife away butyou know what the first week back at work is like after your hols. It has actually been ok so I shouldn'tgrumble and I am going out tonight with my wonderful husband :o)
This week on Just Magnolia I actually groaned when I saw the theme .... only because it is so out of my comfort zone. We want to see VINTAGE themed creations. Now I just usually do nice bright colours and to be honest I wasn't really sure what I should do for my card.

In the end I decided to try and make my card look like an old photograph, so lots of sepia type tones instead of my usual brights! I actually really enjoyed making my card so it just shows it is always really good to try something new.

I have used Magnolia's 'Newly Weds Bridal Couple' from the Wedding Collection and teamed it up with some of my very first papers I bought ...  Papermania's Elegance Collection. I have distressed the edges of all my papers with the amazing Tim Holtz Paper Distresser - OMG how did I ever manage without this great little tool!! Bet you know where my flowers are from ... yep Wild Orchid Crafts ... thanks Paul and Siri, I love them! I have covered my heart with pearls which was punched using Martha Stewarts Lace Scallop Heart Punch - love this punch.

I have also entered my card into the following challenges .....

Creative Craft Challenges - Here comes the Bride
Creative Inspirations - Use old stash ... papers

Just Magnolia - A sketch

Good morning, ah it is good to be back in my craft room although I am missing the gorgeous weather I had on holiday. I couldn't believe my luck when the postie brought me my new Magnolia stamps from the summer kit just in time for me to make this weeks card on Just Magnolia - how lucky was that!
The stamps all have a nautical.sea theme to them and I couldn't resist this super sweet mermaid Tilda which you can pre order from Simon Says Stamp I have used Magnolia papers too and they seemed to be perfect with lots of bubbles on them just like in the image. The aqua paper is actually christmas paper but why wait for christmas when you can use it now, lol.

I used my clear spica pen over the scales and bubbles for a lovely shimmery appearance - it looks so pretty in real life.

I am also going to enter my card for the following challenges ...

Creative Card Crew - Die Cuts
Stampavie & More - Anything goes
Scrappy Frogs - Girly Girl

A Card drive for Michelle with the help of A Spoon Full Of Sugar

We would like to share some sad news today, some of you may already know from her blog, that Michelle had an accident about two weeks ago, which has left her with the loss of her right eye and a long road of recovery ahead. In an effort to cheer her up and raise awareness for what happened to Michelle we are holding a card drive in her honour. We have many generous companies and individuals helping us with this special card drive and we hope you will help too!

The girls at A Spoon Full of Sugar are holding the card drive and they have very kindly invited myself and the other DT members from Just Magnolia to join in with them because Michelle is a valued DT for both teams.

If you pop over to a spoon full of sugar's blog you can read all about it and get this gorgeous donkey download for free generously produced by Whimsy Stamps and all the details of where to send your completed card.

I do hope lots of you join in because Michelle is one of the sweetest people in blogland and it would be just wonderful for her to recieve lots of cards from you all.
